During the Autumn we have been pleased to welcome a group of veterans from Walking With The Wounded, who help veterans to re-integrate into civilian life, to Little Woolden Moss.
As part of a trial link up, small groups of veterans have taken part in practical peatland conservation volunteering sessions and gotten a taste of the mossland life. They have really got stuck in and helped with a lot of planting and scrub clearance, gaining new skills and seeing how their existing skills could be put to use in a new setting, whilst spending time in nature.

Their enthusiasm and energy for to a range of practical tasks has been a great help and we hope to welcome more veterans to the moss in the future.
As one attendee put it : ‘Being outdoors is just good isn’t it’
Thanks to Gmcvo and Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership for providing Friends of Chat Moss with a GM Mental Wellbeing Grant to fund these sessions.
